In the fall of each year, it is important to winterize your sprinkler system to avoid freezing of water in the pipes. Starting in October, we perform a complete winterization of your system by blowing water out of all pipes.
Once the system has been blown out it should not be turned on until the spring.
During warm periods in the winter, just water by hand if necessary.
Fall Winterizing of the system consists of:
- Charge the system with air and blow air through all zones, and all sprinkler heads, ensuring there will be no freeze damage to your sprinkler over the winter period
- Shutting off main water supply valve to system
- Note of any problems that we may find with the system. The problems then would then be noted on a repair list. The list would be referred to in the spring for repairs needed
- When the winterizing of the system is complete we put timer in the "off" position
